Cotswold Pens are hand crafted using the most beautiful, sustainably sourced timber from around the world.
Wood dates back thousands of centuries, and the lathe on which the wood is turned, is often claimed to be one of the oldest of mans inventions.
The beauty of working with wood begins with the tree itself, within which lies a pattern so unique that it is different with every cut,
reflecting everything from the land in which it grew.
My job is to turn the wood with care, preserving the beauty of the grain.
My pens are all unique and it is the way that they are finished and polished that raises them to the highest possible standard…
My quality control is extremely exacting … Do not settle for second best!
After the wood is turned to shape, each pen is sanded through at least 15 stages up to 12000 grit and then is given at least 8 coats of a mix of
Linseed oil and cyanoacrylate before being polished.
This process adds strength as well as a beautiful finish
- Friction polishes and waxes will dull very quickly!
Which is why I do not use them!!
The grain on each pen is completely unique, please email or call to view
the pens I have available. I will then email you a photograph,
so you can choose!
I use various woods from around the world and many native species.
Please contact me if there is a particular wood you would like turned
into your own bespoke pen.
Once completed, I will email you photographs of your pen to ensure
you are happy.
